🍂 September Newsletter 🍂

As we are welcoming the Fall weather and all of the phases that are associated with seasonal change, I want to discuss another natural, occurring seasonal change… actually daily change, that is common for your hair - Hair Shedding.

On average, a person loses between 50-100 hairs per day. The number of hairs that shed might slightly increase during the change of seasons. Hair shedding occurs in response to the daily stress that our hair undergoes - combing, brushing, washing, environmental elements, etc. Hair shedding should not be confused with hair loss. However, excessive shedding could be indicative of a larger issue.

Typical hair shedding should not cause you concern. You can manage the occurring loss by maintaining a regular hair care routine - washing, moisturizing, styling, etc.

If in any case you are experiencing hair loss that exceeds the normal parameters, I encourage you to pursue a consultation with Yolette David, our WTS Trichologist, to identify the cause of the shedding.

Just keep in mind that the sooner the issue is addressed, the better.

As always, we are available to answer any questions or address any of your concerns here at Long Island Hair Loss Center and Wellness.
